Lake Powell is an amazing place. There are more incredible valleys and natural landscapes than anywhere else on earth. It is located in the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area on the Utah / Arizona border. After the construction of the Glen Canyon Dam in 1966, Glen Canyon is the name given to the calm part of the Colorado River that flows through the red rock canals that turned it into the spectacular blue water. The lake is named after explorer John Wesley Powell, the first person to record floating in the Colorado River. It is located in Page, the only town near this. The lake is more than 150 miles long. There are no services, restaurants, hotels or gas stations for your needs.
Powell Lake is in northern Arizona and extends across the border into southern Utah. This is part of the Colorado River in the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area. Page Arizona is the only city near the lake.
